Evolve CEO Alan Stephenson-Brown features in Barclays ‘In the Frame’ podcast series.

Lancashire, UK – June 2023

Evolve’s CEO Alan Stephenson-Brown made a guest appearance on Barclays first episode of their new ‘In the Frame’ podcast.

In the series, the Barclays team is travelling around the UK talking to businesses about a whole host of important topics in relation to banking.

In this first episode, Alan opens up about Evolve’s experience acquiring a business and the steps they took to complete a successful acquisition. He talks in depth about the benefits and challenges that were faced throughout the growth process and going through an acquisition.

Alan Stephenson-Brown was joined by Paul Kempster, Co-Head of Mid Corporate, Andrea Delay, MD at Barclays and Sham Patel, relationship director; they joined Alan at Evolve’s new office in Wigan.

In 2022, Evolve BG Limited acquired IT services company GB3 Limited. GB3, originally based in Preston is a technology solutions company delivering strategy, systems and support to businesses, charities and education. In the podcast, Alan mentions the initial thought process of organic growth, he goes on to say:

“We did look at the option of organic growth and moving into IT services, but to be able to do that, it was probably going to take us three years to be able to get to the stage where we could actually offer an acceptable service to customers. So, the best route for us we viewed was making an acquisition of a company that operated in this sector that had credibility and has the same philosophy as Evolve.”

Alan talks about how there was already an existing relationship with GB3 through mutual customers, Evolve believes strongly in being human-centric and ensuring that everyone associated with the business aligns with the core values and mission of Evolve. He mentions how important this was throughout the process of researching the right business to bring into the Evolve Business Group.

Throughout the podcast, it is refreshing to hear about the mutual relationship between Evolve and Barclays, how the relationship started and how Barclays has helped Evolve over the years. Sham Patel, relationship director at Barclays shared his thoughts and insights on the acquisition and his relationship with Evolve.

Now, fast forward to the present day and GB3 is fully integrated into the Evolve office – the company is looking forward to what the future brings for Evolve and its growth over the coming years.
